After a long break, I am finally back. Things weren't going too well at home and it has delayed my postings. But now that things are back in order, I am on full speed again.

You amy be wondering why I kept touching on the topic of Affiliate Marketing. Well, for one, it is by far the fastest and easiest way to start an online business with little cost.

Affiliate marketing is one of the most effective and powerful ways of earning some money online. This program gives everybody a chance to make a profit through the Internet. Since these affiliate marketing programs are easy to join, implement and pays a commission on a regular basis, more an more people are now willing in this business.

However, like all businesses, there are lots of pitfalls in the affiliate marketing business. That is why it is better to avoid them than be sorry.

Mistake number 1: Choosing the wrong affiliate.

Do not rush into joining an affiliate program without first considering your personal interest. Granted, you need not be promoting products that you are an expert in but for a start, it will be easier to promote a product you like.

Then do some research about that product to see if they are in demand. Promoting a product you are more passionate about is easier than promoting one for the sake of the earnings only.

Mistake number 2: Joining too many affiliate programs.

The technique is to do it slowly but surely. Be patient.

As an affiliate, you main purpose is to effectively and convincingly promote a product or service and to find customers. For you to achieve this purpose, you must be able to relay to the customers that certain product and service. It is therefore difficult for you to do this when you yourself have not tried these things out. Thus, you will fail to promote and recommend them convincingly. Try the product or service personally first before you sign up as an affiliate to see if it is really delivering what it promises. Now, how do you get started with Affiliate Marketing?

Basically, you need to search the internet for a product that you have an interest in or a product that you think has a great demand.

Download and install the software and key in the desired keyword (or subject you are keen in). Look at the results. What the software does is that it will pull out a list of keywords that people actually searched for. As a rule of thumb, you should be looking for keywords that has at least over 10,000 searches.

Next, go to http://www.clickbank.com. Click on Promote Products (you will be brought to the marketplace); then, search for products that you have researched earlier and choose a couple of affiliate programs to join. To promote products from Clickbank, you need to signup with Clickbank for your referral nickname and account.

Know the products that you are going to promote. Take notes on the benefits of the products you have chosen.

After that, you can put the affiliate products (which will have your affiliate links) in your own website or, if you do not have a website, create an Adwords account from Google.

Then, create ads promoting your products. Google adwords allows you to control your budget and you are free to set your pay per click cost. Of course there are other ppc programs but having tried a few, I personally feel that Google Adwords is the easiest to navigate.

Pay per click means that each time someone sees your ads and clicks on it, you get billed. Note that You Pay no matter if the visitor buys your affiliate products or not.

Your profit is the net amount after deducting your advertsing expenses from the commissions you have earned.
